Education at Union Arts Center

Union Arts Center is a home for artists and learners, connecting students, educators, and emerging artists to live performance, classical text, and the creative process. Whether onstage, in classrooms, or behind the scenes, our education programs are designed to meet people where they are—from curious beginners to devoted students and future professionals alike.

Our Programs

In-School Residencies

Bring professional teaching artists directly into your classrooms and community spaces! Through embodied learning, students will analyze, collaborate, and build confidence through creative exploration.

Touring Shakespeare Production

A touring Shakespeare production dedicated to bringing high-quality live classical theatre directly to students across the state. These productions are accessible, engaging, and rooted in active storytelling.

Youth Company
Performance Programs

Centering young people as artists, participants rehearse and perform under the guidance of professional directors and teaching artists.  No prior experience is required—just curiosity and a commitment to storytelling.

Classes

We offer classes across disciplines for learners of all ages. Our classes support everyone from emerging theatre-makers to established creatives looking to deepen their practice.

Student Matinees

Our student matinee performances, as well as our Engage the Stage programming, invite students into a professional performance setting and provide a powerful introduction to live storytelling on stage.

Play Study Guides

Designed to support learning before and after attending a performance, these guides include play context, character breakdowns, discussion questions, and classroom activities.

Observerships

This program is open to anyone interested in understanding how theatre is made. Observers are invited into four key touchpoints of a production process: a first read, a staging rehearsal, a technical rehearsal, and opening night.
